The breakaway region of Georgia and Russia have begun bombing one another. As the bombs fell on the Georgian capital Tbilisi, government buildings and Parliament were evacuated. The Russians are targeting the infrastructure of Georgia in the hopes that destroying the economic centers of the region will stop their desire to get breakaway from Russia.

Both sides have seen heavy causalities already. Russian bombers moved in the pro-Russian autonomous area of Georgia on Friday. The Black Sea port of Poti, the country’s biggest port, was reportedly destroyed. On Thursday Georgia sent troops into South Ossetia to crack down on separatists. There is a push for the rest of Georgia to be unified with North Ossetia which is currently located in Russia. Peacekeepers were stationed in Georgia but Russia has now sent troops in to fight.

The saddest part about this situation is that there are plenty of innocent people that are dead on the streets of Georgia. Bodies line the war torn streets where rockets have killed women and children. Russia is destroying the foundation of Georgia. There is no excuse for this type of carnage that is being committed in Georgia. Georgia has applied to diplomatic intervention and boy do they need it.

As the situation escalates more and more people will die. This is a terrible state for any country to be in. The world simply must intervene and get involved in this war. Civilians are rushing to seek cover from this haphazard attack from the Russians. Over the past few days the fighting has turned into an all out war.

Witnesses report that bodies are in the streets and that there are hardly any buildings left standing. Russia should know better than this. This type of attack is based on anarchy and mayhem. The president or the prime minister, or which ever is in charge in Russia, these days it is hard to tell, needs to put a stop to this.

People around the world have called for a stop to the fighting. Russia is a massive country, the largest nation in the world. It’s fight to maintain all of the former Soviet satellites is unrealistic. The people in the lands that suffered through years of Communism that worked to steal their cultures, deserve a break. They should be able to regroup and be the culture and country that they choose to be.

Georgia is located between Russia and Turkey. It is one of the Soviet satellites that is located far enough away from the center of Russia to allow the citizens there to recover more of their culture than some of the other groups that live closer to the center. With that in mind it is no wonder that the people of Georgia are looking for a way out of the unfair rule that it typical of the Russian government. With Vladimir Putin still pulling the reigns of the country, Russia, on some places has not changed that much. Not to mention, all of the change has not been for the better. The road to “freedom” can be awful rocking at times.

I would really like to stop reading and writing about wars and missiles. However, because world leaders are not smart enough to realize that blowing up the world is a bad idea, here goes another potential war story.

Iran is testing missiles. Why? Who knows. I guess they are trying to show that they have the power to do so. Great. What does that mean? All it means is that other countries are going to get their guard up. I hope and pray that all of this test missile stuff does not lead to yet another attack, but it does not look hopeful.

It seemed like a few days ago Iran was read to engage in talks about United Nations inspections. Now they are launching missiles? What happened and how can it be reversed? Israel and the United States are of course ready to attack if necessary, making things very hairy for all of us. Please, please have some type of talk and stop the threat of yet another war.

The unfriendly words that have come out of Iran state that an attack by Israel and/or the United States would prompt a counter attack. Israel and U.S. holdings in the Persian Gulf would be the areas that would be hit according to and aide of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Some of the areas that are in range of the missiles are Turkey, Pakistan, the Arabian peninsula and the Horn of Africa.

These test missile launches come about a month after Israel deiced to do a military drill in the Mediterranean. Of course, drills often precede attacks and it was seen as a bold statement that Israel could and would attack Iran to destroy their nuclear program. A message such as that leaves the country that gets the message, little choice other than to test their own weapons. Just to show that they too can attack. What a foolish game to be played by grown men. My weapons reach as far or further than your weapons. We will blow you up if we have to. Well, we will blow you up if we have to. Come on. Can’t the world find a better way?

I am not a world leader. I don’t have an political experience but I do know that aggression is met with aggression. How about taking a step back and thinking about what it means to launch missiles and practice attacks. What can possible come of those things except for more aggression? Now Israel say that their super spy plane to spy on Iran is the only “practical answer”. Really? Well how about not practicing your attacks in preparation of attacking? Sending a spy plane will do nothing but make things worse. What type of practical answer is that. Not to mention, threats are very subjective in this instance. The threats seem to be coming from both sides. Wouldn’t the situation improve if all those involved just shut up and stopped preparing to attack one another. It seems so simple in my head. Perhaps it is not. I don’t know.

As if the war in Afghanistan was not bad enough, now reports about civilians being killed are coming out. It seems that the death toll is up for everyone in Afghanistan. As I watch the pictures of my fellow country men that have fallen in this war, I am pained. As I hear about this terrible information about civilians in Afghanistan being killed as well, I just have to wonder, what is going to happen with the Afghanistan situation?

The air strikes were aimed at helicopters that were carrying insurgents. However, the governor of the province says that 22 civilians were killed along with the insurgents. Of course, in war, unfortunately, civilians die. They get in the line of fire and bullets and grenades have no names on them. Whoever happens to be in the way dies.

The discrepancy comes though when the military says that they fired on the group of people because they fired on them. So where the people killed insurgents or not? Well, that is a very good question. Were the civilians attacking the troops or did the troops make a mistake and hit the civilians? Hard to tell at this point.

The military says that there were no civilian casualties. The way that the governor of the province described the situation was that the opposition fired on the U.S. military base the day before and the civilians were killed the next day. Due to the remotes of the area that was hit, it is hard to tell exactly what happened. Speculation of civilians being killed will of course not sit well with the rest of Afghanistan and rightfully so.

Will these attacks end up sparking something more? Let’s hope not. There has been enough in the way of destruction. As the war intensifies and begins to take the forefront over the Iraq occupation, the answers for Afghanistan seem even vaguer than they are for Iraq. With no clear cut mission, enemies and friends begin to look remarkably like one another. Suddenly there are dead bodies on both sides and no one has clear answers.

The province governor is saying that 22 bodies showed up at the provincial hospital along with seven other non fatally injured people. Someone needs to get to the bottom of the situation and either come out and make an apology or boldly state that 22 civilians were not killed by U.S. fire.

There were also other attacks that lead to deaths. At a checkpoint eight police officers were shot down. This added to the overall death toll in Afghanistan. Last year 8,000 people died in Afghanistan due to insurgent attacks. When you add up all of the bodies, soldiers, civilians and militants, it is important to remember that every single one is a human being. All of those individuals died prematurely and the killing and death does not seem like it is coming to an end at all. This year alone, which is just a little bit more than half over, 2,100 people have died.

Many people have called it the forgotten war but no one is going to be able to overlook the war in Afghanistan for much longer. More Coalition forces are being killed in Afghanistan than they are in Iraq these days. The war that has been on the back burner for years is starting to be something that is making it into the news more often these days.

Much like the war in Iraq it is hard to truly define where the war in Afghanistan is going. What exactly is the purpose and when will it be over? Neither one of these questions have clear cut answers. However, soldiers are being shipped over to Afghanistan on a regular basis and many of them are losing their lives.

Bush is contemplating sending more troops to Afghanistan. That means that more lives will be in danger. It also means that the war will continue to progress but progress towards what? If troops are going to continually be asked to sacrifice themselves for a war I think that they deserve to know where all of this is going.

The Afghanistan mission began as a quest for the ever elusive bin Laden who is still alive, free and making video statements when he feels like it. The Taliban is out of office but the country is still split on how it feels about that obviously because soldiers are being murdered still.

Bush acknowledges that June was a bad month for American and allied troops in Afghanistan. However, he also says that the month was a tough one for Taliban militants. While this may be true, the only problem with this observation is that we don’t know exactly how many Taliban militants there are. Therefore, while it may have been a month where many militants were killed, there could be hundreds, maybe even thousands more to take their place. 46 foreign troops died in the month of June in Afghanistan, 15 more than the number killed in Iraq. 28 of those were American troops which makes June the deadliest month for American and foreign troops since the war in Afghanistan began.

Bush says that the increase in deaths is due to the fact that troops are taking the fight to the Taliban forces. However, he does not really set out the clear strategy that is going to lead to the end of the war. I think that most of us just want to know at what point we can say, hey, the war is coming to an end.

June is the second month in a row that more troops have died in Afghanistan than they have in Iraq. This is very troubling because it seems like the3 war that was not supposed to really be a war has turned into something much more over the past few months. The number of deaths in may doubled in June and that means that something is changing in Afghanistan. We can choose to trust what Bush says, although I don’t recommend it, or come up with some conclusions of our own.

Israel might attack Iran if they do not suspend their nuclear program. The United States has ordered Iran to stop their nuclear program. I am very confused about why the United States and Israel feel like they have the right to tell other countries what they should do. Why is it okay for some countries to have nuclear operations but not for others? Isn’t there a possibility that the nuclear operation is truly being used for energy like they say it is? What is Israel attacks and Iran is really only using nuclear energy for good things.? Then there will be another war raged on false pretenses. Surely the world does not need that.

A few weeks ago I was watching the news and I saw the Evangelical church is joining hands with Jews. At first I thought, wonderful, beautiful, because I really love to see different faiths come together and take part in one another’s religion. Then the story went on and my joy ceased. Apparently there are a few Evangelical churches that see the Iranian president as the devil. This was a joining point for the Jews and the Evangelicals. Come on folks, we are smarter than that right? Just because someone is not Christian or Jewish it does not make them evil. It also does not make them a mastermind war monger either.

The Jewish Muslim conflict is one that spans a long history but I really just do not understand why the hatred has to be endless. Why is there not a way to fix this terrible wound on mankind? Surely there is a way for everyone to coexist and get some of what they want.

As far as the nuclear program goes, other countries have them. The United States is one of them. He assumption is that the United States knows what to do with nuclear energy and even though everyone knows that the country possesses weapons of mass destruction, the United States think that they know what to do with them. Well, isn’t it possible that other countries, including Iran, are truly trying to grow their nuclear energy program for good purposes. Everyone knows that there is a major energy crisis. Perhaps they are working on ways to cope with that.

I hope and pray there no other countries are invaded because of what someone thinks tat they are doing. I mean, without proof there is no reason to even consider invading someone’s country. Israel needs to reevaluate what they are saying and doing right now before more people end up dead. As an ally, the United States needs to ask Israel to step down and stop these threats. Let’s try to be grown ups and wait for something definite before murdering people. War is not the answer to this question. Come up with a better solution and try that before starting yet another war. Zimbabwe is in shambles. If anyone wants to intrude on another country, that is the place to go, not Iran.
