Sharon Stone`s `Misspeak`

Sharon Stone is a rather untalented actress who apparently also is not that intelligent either. When I speak of intelligence I am not talking about the type of intelligence that can be measured on a test because many people that score well on I.Q. test, are stupid.

Actors and actresses can have opinions and state what they think is right or wrong. Saying the she is a supporter of the Dalia Lama is fine but to say that the earthquake in China was karma is really just plain ignorance. One situation has nothing to do with the other one and bringing to two issues together makes no sense. Not to mention, Stone is not typically an actress that is reportedly involved in a lot of political activities. His comment she made about the earthquake in China seemed to come from a rather shallow place in her brain. No amount of apologizing is going to make up for what she said and apologies made in an attempt to stop the tarnishing of her reputation will be in vain.

I’ve heard rumors that Sharon Stone is supposed to have a high I.Q. and that she is part of Mensa. However, she is not smart enough to know that saying that a terrible earthquake that killed tens of thousands of people was karma is going to upset people? Stone made the comments at a Cannes Film Festival Thursday in an interview with Hong Kong’s Cable Entertainment News. She said “And then this earthquake and all this stuff happened, and all this stuff happened, and then I thought, is that karma? When you’re not nice that the bad things happen to you?”

This comment was just plain stupid and has been played throughout the Internet community. The UME Cineplex chain and the chairman of the Federation of Hong Kong Filmmakers, Ng See-Yuen made comments that actors should stay away from political comments. Mentioning a natural disaster as being karma is unwise in any venue but it seems especially unwise to do so when you are talking to a Hong Kong station.

Stone went on to apologize for the comments and said that she received a letter asking her to help with quake relief funds. This request supposedly brought her to tears but that does not erase what she said.

The Foreign Ministry in China has not commented and has allegedly said that they won’t. They obviously don’t see any reason to respond to idiotic comments made by insignificant actresses. Stone has made herself look stupid. There is no need for the Chinese government to respond. The actress will probably continue to make dumb comments in response to the backlash she is receiving.

Movies with Stone in them are in progress now. It is rumored that she will be starring in at least four films that will be released between now and 2010. Since Stone is typically in mediocre film it should be even easier for movie goers to pass up the next movies she will be starring in. I expect her films will not do well at all in China.
