Ruslana Korshunova – Beauty and Fame Lead to Suicide?

A 20 year old Supermodel from Kazakhstan fell from her ninth floor apartment window in New York Saturday. However, this was not a mistake, the medical examiner says. It was instead, a suicide? What would make a young woman who was hailed “a face to be excited about” by British Vogue, jump out of a window and kill herself?

Ruslana Korshunova was something to see. Most models look a little odd to me but this young lady was very attractive. She had a special face unlike the usual sunk in model mug that I am used to seeing. She had been noticed by those in the modeling world that need to notice models. She was in New York, the place to be and she was, I’m sure, doing well financially and yet, at 20, she was done wit the world.

Over the past couple of years there have been more than enough stories about modes that have starved themselves to death. Designers are going refusing to us models with BMI’s that are under the healthy range and the nasty side of modeling has been exposed. There was a time when you could look like a regular girl and be a model. These days it seems like that girl are being pushed to a completely unhealthy limit and apparently, the unhealthiness is no just physical. There were obviously some mental things going on in this young woman’s life.

What could have happened that day to make this young woman throw herself out of her apartment window? What trouble struck that was too unbearable to face that day? It just is so sad to know that there is pain bad enough to make someone end their life. There is no mention about why Ruslana would have killed herself. The door man of her apartment said that she seemed happy that day. Then again, he said she was always smiling and never looked depressed. Those are the ones you have to watch out for. The people that never have a bad day. They tend to be the ones that have the most bad days.

Once again we are shown that fame, beauty and fortune can not make up for a lack of happiness. You can have all of those superficial things and if you do not have yourself figured out, it means nothing. It will be interesting to see if there were any drugs involved in the case or if there was some history of depression. Perhaps none of those things played a part and this young woman was just…sad. Hard to believe that a woman that had the world in the palm of her hand was sad enough to kill herself but we know that that has happened on more than a few occasions.

The next time that you think that money, fame or beauty will save you, think of this model falling from her window. Realize that the sum of happiness comes from a place much deeper than any surface place.
